In 2012, after a trip to Costa Rica and seeing the work of LightForce International, a small town girl from Lagrange, GA, Amelia Quinn knew she had to address the issue of human trafficking in her own state of GA, specifically Atlanta.
Those first days were birthed out of a community of friends, meeting and dreaming of what could be. In the end, there were two who decided to start an organization and pursue this as a full-time gig. After meeting with everyone possible in the Atlanta area, officing out of hundreds of coffee shops and anxiously awaiting our non-profit status, we were official on June 28, 2012.
As much prep work as we had done, nothing could have prepared us for those first few months. Realizing when the first resident walked through the door that she was choosing to trust us with her dreams is something we will never forget. There were many challenges and failures but our team saw the Lord provide in a way we had never experienced before and we have been amazed by Him everyday since.
In the past 5 years, BeLoved has grown in more ways than one. We have talked to hundreds of women looking to escape the cycle of sexual exploitation. Our team has expanded and grown. We have brought on an incredible team of board members whose guidance and support we could not function without. We have raised over half a million dollars. We are expanding to have TWO HOUSES by next year. And we have graduated two residents who are thriving after completing our multiphase, two year program.
We look forward to continuing to grow a community of restoration for women who have been commercially sexually exploited. We could not achieve any of this without our community. That is where this little thing started and through all the changes and growth, that is what keeps us going.
